The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Seoul reportedly made a decision on Zarif’s participation in a China-initiated multinational security dialogue forum in Asia, along with foreign ministers of 25 other countries including South Korea, Russia, Turkey, and India.
The Ministry has also announced that South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se will confer with other participating diplomats on security issues such as North Korea's nuclear weapons and missiles.
He plans to use the occasion to call for further pressure on North Korea to force the country to abandon its nuclear weapons program, the Ministry stated.
Other topics of discussion include global peace and stability, combating terrorism, security cooperation and efforts to reduce regional and international tensions.
The meeting is set to open in Beijing next Wednesday, April 28, and continue the next day in the Chinese capital.
CICA, established in 1992 as a forum for dialogue and consultations, now has 26 member countries and 12 observers. China hosted the fourth CICA summit in Shanghai in 2014. It holds the CICA presidency from 2014 to 2016.
